Self-discipline.

Self-discipline is very difficult,
You have to master your thoughts,
And practice self control,
When temptations oppress the weary soul,
It helps to accomplish our goals,
Make fair diamond out of dusty coals,
It makes you control your impulses and desires,
And become one whom any man or devil cannot tire,
Follow self-discipline always,
You will then truly be indefeatable,
And your speed to success will be unbelievable...

This post is more of a reminder to me of my unaccomplished goals due to lack of self discipline. Be it starting a weight loss journey or breaking any nagging addiction, I have always been inconsistent with my efforts. I seriously lack will power and no matter how hard I try I just cant continue making my efforts towards achieving any goal. I am mocked by everyone in the family that mumma’s diet begins every monday morning and ends every monday night with a box of pizza and bowl of ice cream. I laugh it off everytime but sometimes it frustrates me, why cant I keep my word and why do I give up so fast.

Another Monday coming in a few days and another commitment to be made to myself๐Ÿ˜€.This time hopefully my determination and infact even desperation to alter the course of my life will help me be consistent. One thing that I have realised is It is the mindset that separates the best from the rest.

  4. Don’t let failures in the past color the fact that every time you try, your success is just as likely as the next failure. Always keep trying and stay strong my friend!

  6. Willpower is highly over-rated! It wasn’t willpower that got me to stop drinking; when I relied on that I always failed. Don’t feel bad about it, you’re the same as every other person. Changing habits requires a lot more than just forcing yourself. I wish I could explain it well but I’m not very good at those things… the book The Power of Habit is very good.

  7. The poetic effort was cool – in fact super cool!
Well, in some ways, you are not alone. Many of us do start on something, yet after a while, we either stop or loosen up. But yes, imbibing self-discipline does helps.

  8. Try smaller targets, maybe start by keeping the pizza on a Monday but ditching the ice cream. Just a thought ๐Ÿ˜‰

  11. Great philosophy! We each can benefit from some degree of self-discipline in our lives. Without it, we will likely run aground on the hidden rocks offshore.
